Cetim Selects HyperWorks® to Expand its CAE Capabilities
Optimization, meshing, and solver capabilities drive innovative solutions
TROY, Mich., Dec. 9, 2013 – Altair today announced that
Cetim (Centre technique des industries mécaniques), the largest technical center for industrial research in France, has chosen Altair’s computer-aided engineering (CAE) suite
HyperWorks to expand its technical capabilities in development projects. In particular, Cetim will leverage OptiStruct
®, RADIOSS
®, HyperMesh
® and HyperView
® to benefit from the advanced optimization and the high-performance meshing capabilities of the suite.
From consulting to testing and from engineering services to technical training, Cetim provides a comprehensive service offering to all types of companies within the mechanical engineering arena. The company covers multiple simulation domains within its industrial and research projects, including NVH, fatigue, and stress-strain analysis. Cetim uses Altair products for linear static validation of a test bench as well as for the optimization of components made of multilayer composites. Cetim’s expertise has been leveraged across multiple industries, including transportation, aeronautics, railways, space, and defense.
“As the leading French player in the fields of mechanical engineering innovation and research and development, we always need cutting-edge and state-of-the-art tools,” said Haidar Jaffal, responsible for the technical team innovation, design, and simulation at Cetim. “Altair’s HyperWorks suite with its various top-notch development tools gives us these capabilities and the flexibility we need in our everyday work. The powerful tools of HyperWorks with which we are able to correct our CAD models, enable us to accurately handle the meshing of 2D and 3D parts, including the design and optimization of parts made of composite materials. The CAE suite and its tools help us streamline our development processes significantly, saving development and testing time, and providing our customers with innovative solutions at a competitive price for each industry we serve.”
“We are happy to see Cetim using Altair’s HyperWorks suite for a wide variety of industry and research projects,” said Mauro Guglielminotti, Managing Director Southern Europe, Altair. “As an industrial technical center, Cetim has a history of using sophisticated software tools, especially in the area of finite element analysis. As lightweight design and optimization continue to gain importance in all industries, we offer the right solution at the right time. With HyperWorks, Cetim is able to expand its technical acumen while streamlining overall design and development using CAE and optimization technology.”
About Cetim
Cetim was set up more than 45 years ago on the joint initiative of the French government and the French Federation of Mechanical Engineering Industries (FIM) with the aim of pooling resources and technical skills based on funding by a designated tax. Today Cetim is France's largest Industrial Technical Centre (CTI). With a staff of nearly 700 - for the most part engineers and holders of doctorates – spread over three main sites (Senlis, Nantes, and Saint-Etienne), Cetim is now France's benchmark institute in the field of mechanical engineering. It holds the Carnot label awarded by the French Ministry of Research. As the leading French player in the fields of mechanical engineering innovation and R&D, Cetim has built up a wide network of partners. Its engineers and technicians operate in more than 30 countries each year. To learn more, please visit
