Bridge the Gap Between Tests and Simulation

An Introductory webinar to EikoTwin DIC by EikoSim, available through the Altair Partner Alliance. EikoTwin DIC allows image processing (digital image correlation) based on the finite element (FE) mesh of your simulation. DIC is an image processing technique that allows users to measure displacements and strains of a structure during mechanical testing. Compared to strain gages and extensometers, DIC drastically increases the amount of information gathered and the ability for the user to understand the mechanical behavior of their structure. But traditional DIC software produce a measurement of displacement and strains of a cloud of points. Thus, users often have a hard time comparing experimental data with simulation results. EikoTwin DIC is simulation-oriented, which means these displacements and strains are directly measured from the images on the FE mesh. As a result, EikoTwin DIC directly compares these deformations to those predicted by numerical simulations. Through a single test, EikoTwin DIC users are able to understand immediately how to improve their simulations, thus avoiding trial and error and wasting time.

Advancements in 3D printing and design optimization for additive manufacturing (AM) is changing the industry’s overall approach to product design. This webinar features Altair Inspire™ a solution for designing parts through additive manufacturing and Amphyon, a complementary partner tool available through the Altair Partner Alliance. Through a combined workflow we’ll demonstrate an alternate and more efficient approach towards generative design. Modeling Corona Discharge using VSim Simulation Software

VSim, is a multi-dimensional, multi-physics simulation software tool, available through the Altair Partner Alliance, that can model a wide variety of electromagnetic related problems. VSim correctly computes the electric field in free-space and dielectrics due to boundary conditions and self-consistently generated fields from charged particles. In this webinar, you will learn how to set up a corona discharge problem in VSim. The set up includes the initialization of a seed electron, inclusion of collisional processes between electrons and neutrals which lead to the formation of a plasma, secondary emission due to electrons and ions impacting a variety of surfaces, and establishing any dielectrics in the simulation. VSim can correctly compute the electric field in the dielectrics. We will then show you how to analyze the data in VSim once the simulation has finished.

Design High-Quality Plastic Components Faster Using S-Life Plastics

An Introductory webinar to S-Life Plastics by PART Engineering, available through the Altair Partner Alliance. S-Life-Plastics is an easy-to-use software that conducts a short-term, long-term and fatigue strength assessment based on FEA results for plastic components made out of unreinforced or reinforced thermoplastic materials. In order to conduct a strength assessment S-Life Plastics only needs the local stress tensor, provided by the appropriate result file of the particular FE solver. Additionally the user has to enter some basic information about the material and loading conditions. With that S-Life Plastics provides the resulting static and cyclic utilization ratios as contour plots. For every individual node a comprehensive numerical report of the most important assessment variables can be requested for documentation purposes.
